Image Grove Productions
Image Grove
Productions is based in Southern California but provides location scouting and
production services anywhere a photographer can have a camera in his hand. Owner Scott Downing has been involved
with production projects throughout the United States and internationally for
over two decades. Growing up in
the Los Angeles area, he was introduced to the world of still photography and
production through his experiences going on shoots with his dad who was an art
director mainly on automotive accounts.
He went on to earn his BachelorsÕ Degree in Photography from Art Center
College of Design and has brought that passion and expertise to his career ever
since.
Scott is able to
enter each project anticipating the contributions and needs that each person
and entity brings to a production team.
In his location scouting role, he approaches
each location as a photographer while discerning the viability of the needs and
flexibility requested by the agency and client. His scouting projects have allowed him to build a vast library
as well as hone his intuitive skills with locations throughout the world from
the diversity California offers to more site specific locales like Paris, New
York, Melbourne, Barcelona, Montana, and Colorado to name just a very few.
In the course of
production, he understands the demands of projects that are of a Òsensitive
natureÓ. His experience allows him
to not only find the perfect shoot spot, but compels him to analyze the risks,
demands, and logistics from the multi-dimensional perspective of the entire
crew/client team. It is because of
this understanding and the efforts he pursues, that you will often find his
name among the select few that are entrusted with Òred codeÓ type campaigns. This security consciousness has been an
asset to clients in automotive, fashion, lifestyle, and entertainment
shoots.
Scott often
embraces the role of casting agent, precision driver on rig shots, second
shooter, and CGI capture shooter. Basically,
he will not hesitate to jump through whatever hoops it takes to get the job
done and ensure the production runs smoothly. His experience, diplomacy, teamwork mentality, and the
relationships he has cultivated are often the greatest assets to making things
happen that ordinarily might present more of a challenge. ScottÕs determination to work as a respectful
and cohesive team along with his desire to leave a location Òbetter than when he
arrivedÓ are key to the reputation he has nurtured among fellow crew members
and clients as well as location and permit authorities. He has built great friendships and
trust working closely with photographers such as Michael Rausch, Marcus Sauer, Pascal
Malamas, Uli Heckmann, Jim Fets, Willy Von
Recklinghausen, Scott Smith, Lowell Tindell, Scott
Montgomery, Tim Cole and Chad Ress. Scott has also
produced projects in association with Matt Productions and Mark Dickmann Productions.
Scott has been fortunate
to be a part of many award winning and notable campaigns with clients that
